The Punisher is better than Captain America. Period. It doesn’t matter if you love the Cap more, I’m pretty sure even Frank Castle (aka Francis Castiglione) would even disagree with me but that just makes me think he is even more awesome.
My relationship with the Punisher goes way back to ‘The Punisher’ comic series that ran from ’87-’95 and The Punisher Magazine. He was one of my main three Marvel books that I was collecting at the time (Punisher, Amazing Spider-man, and Fantastic Four), to my small uninformed mind The Punisher was a guy who took out the bad guys and kept the world safe from criminals; kind of like Batman with less tech. Boy was I wrong… (more…)
I have not gone to the theatre to see a superhero movie in quite some time. I feel like something isn’t quite right with the world, but I don’t know who to call because all the heroes on-screen seem to be in the middle of deep self-reflection.
After looking at the descriptions for the two upcoming DC movies (Man of Steel and Dark Knight Rises) I can’t help but feel that the so-called heroes are all struggling. Superman is looking into himself to try to understand his purpose while Batman takes a sabbatical for eight years. What the eff? Are you kidding me? (more…)
That game is art. Though I do love to blather on my real passion is art and comics. I have decided to not be so wordy and to post my art here. Maybe some comics. Maybe on occasion words, but mostly pictures.
Some Background: I have been an artist my whole life. When I was a wee lad I loved colouring books. My parents always made sure I was well supplied with pages, lines and the tools to render them colourized. My favourite thing about these books was not the pictures of He-Man or Disney characters; it was the blank pages that sat unused behind the front and back covers. (more…)
The Kobo E-Reader has hit the market and sold out just as quickly. As the good people at Kobo are in the process of constructing more units (heh, units) I thought I would take some time to reflect on a question that I have been asked many times: “Does the E-Reader mean the end of the printed word?” My response: “You’re asking the wrong person.” But what the heck, I’ll humour you on this one as the topic does hold some interest for me…
So, it has come to my attention that I have neglected to update this blog in quite some time. Such is the life of a student. The only time I ever get to do any writing for myself is when my assignments are handed in; today is that day. I just handed in one of two papers that were due today (the next one is handed in at 2:30pm), and I am one step closer to freedom. I cannot wait to exit the doors of University and reclaim my life. That being said, I will still be doing school related stuff until early May, le sigh. I want to take this time to give a huge thank you to one of my favourite authours: Mr. Murakami Haruki.
I am the type of student that leaves things until the last-minute. I know, I know, but it’s true. I have still managed to get good grades even though half the readings go unfinished. I think a large part of this is due to Murakami’s books. At any point, where I am allowed to incorporate outside sources for my essays, I always use his writing. This year I wrote two papers that I related to Murakami’s non-fiction works (Underground and What I Talk About When I Talk About Running). It is by no easy feat that these two books appeared in two separate papers: one about Rilke’s The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge, and the other a paper on Social Transformation in regards to Education. I won’t bore you with the details of the papers, but I will say that the degree by which I enjoy Murakami’s writing, and the quality of said writing, is what enables me to incorporate his works into my works.
